Srinagar, Aug 11: The run up to 70th Independence Day of India commenced at Baramulla, today, with the local youth and Army celebrating the same with great enthusiasm, a defence spokesman in a statement issued here said.
Amidst a huge & warm response from the local youth, the Army conducted an Inter School Painting & Talent Hunt Competition on Thursday, based on themes of rich Kashmiriyat and Mera Bharat Mahan. Organised for highlighting the talent & skills, this mega event also connected the Baramulla youth with the rich cultural values of Kashmiriyat and successful growth of the Indian Republic on the Global Platform.  Evoking a massive response, this event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of more than 500 youth from eleven different  school & colleges of Baramulla, he said.
On spot paintings, prepared by the youth, depicted their real calibre and emotional feelings related to true Kashmiriyat and Nationalism.  The talent hunt and an impressive cultural event organised by students on ‘INDIA OF MY DREAMS’ showcased the secular values and richness of our Nation.  A melodious song “Ae Watan Hamko Teri Kasam” by Mr Shahid was a real hit amongst the audience, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Major General RP Kalita, GOC Dagger Division complimented the youth for their active involvement and commitment towards the Nation.  He urged the students to identify the right path of progress & follow it for becoming responsible citizens of tomorrow. The GOC appealed to the teaching faculty to ensure holistic growth of the students for development of the society. Attractive prizes and incentives were awarded to the winners and other participants The event reaffirmed the strong bond between the Army & the AWAM of Baramulla, which has withstood the test of time & tide always, he said.
