Srinagar, Oct 25: The Army encouraged the women of Mawar Valley in developing their skills and making them self reliant and independent, a defence spokesman in a statement issued here said.
They were given classes for stitching and tailoring at Chinar 9 jawan club at Naugam. The classes were aimed at imparting basic tailoring skills to women to enable them in meeting their household requirements and also to provide a platform to start an independent venture towards their financial self reliance. Total of 20 women from remote villages are undergoing the training, he said.
It is pertinent to mention that 10 women of the previous batch have started their boutiques in their respective villages. Their achievements will motivate other women of the area for self reliance, he said.
