Srinagar, June 6: Day after government forces ‘repelled’ a Fidayeen attack on a paramilitary camp, the Director General (DG) CRPF and DGP Dr SP Vaid along with other officers on Tuesday visited Sumbal area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir and commended the forces men.
According to GNS correspondent, the DG CRPF Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar flew to Srinagar from Delhi today afternoon and straightway drove to Sumbal along with DG SP Vaid and IGP Kashmir Munir Khan. The senior officers visited the 45Thbattalion of CRPF which was attacked by four fidayeen militants.
The DGs of CRPF and Police commended the CRPF men and police cops for successfully repelling a major fidayeen strike yesterday in wee hours. The DG CRPF praised the police and CRPF for working closely and remaining alert. He commended the alert CRPF jawans of the 45thBattalion and said that a major attack was foiled due to the alertness by paramilitary troopers.
On the occasion, the DGP Dr Vaid said that the attackers were from Lashkar outfit and were non-locals. He said police are investigating when the militants infiltrated into Kashmir Valley from Pakistan. The DGs rewarded the police and CRPF men involved in yesterday’s operation. The top officers also inspected the spot of the attack and arms and ammunition recovered from the militants.(GNS)
