Srinagar, Jan 1: Thousands people participated in funeral of two militants killed in Pulwama. In fact, Seven rounds of funeral prayers were held for Jaish-e-Muhammad militant Manzoor Ahmad Baba in Drubgam village of Pulwama in south Kashmir alone.
An eyewitness said that the prayers were offered seven times to accommodate the massive rush of people who had marched to the village from adjacent areas.
He said that pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised as the body of Baba was marched towards the graveyard.
Earlier, massive clashes erupted after people started marching towards the village to take part in the last rites of the slain militant.
A youth, identified as Manzoor Ahmad of Tahab Pulwama was injured after being hit by a bullet. He was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where from he was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar.
In Tral, thousands of people took part in the funeral of slain Jaish militant Fardeen Ahmad Khandey.
Men and women lined the streets as the body of 16-year-old Khandey was being marched towards a local ground in Nazneenpora village. They were raising pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans.
At least four rounds of funeral prayers were held to accommodate the huge rush of people.
Pertinently, army and the CRPF have placed a cordon to prevent militants from reaching the funeral and offer gun- salutes.
Despite that, however, few militants appeared in the funeral and offered a gun-salute to their slain associate.
A complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama district of south Kashmir against the killings of militants. All shops and other business establishments are closed in the area and public transport mostly remained off the roads. Reports of shutdown was also received from parts of Shopian.
