Jammu, Feb 14 (GNS): Parmeshwaran Iyer, Secretary Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Sh. Iyer apprised Governor about J&K’s performance under “Swachh Bharat Mission”, the Prime Minister’s flagship Scheme, and the urgent need to improve the sanitation and cleanliness through effective solid and liquid waste management.
Governor discussed with Sh. Iyer the ongoing and the planned projects relating to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine which has been declared as one of the ten Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) under Phase 1 of the Swachh Bharat Mission, for improving cleanliness, waste collection and disposal, and accessibility facilities at Katra and various sanitation infrastructure and facilities on the way to the Shrine. Shri Iyer assured of all required support to the Shrine Board under SIP. (GNS)
