Srinagar, Oct 18: People who visit Civil Secretariat on Wednesday for redressing of their demands had to return disappointed as most of the ministers and staff were absent.

Sources said that the ministers and most of the staff had gone to Jammu in connection with Diwali and ‘seat of the government’ was virtually deserted.

“The government should have declared a non-sitting day and we would not have travelled hundreds of kilometers to take our demand to the government,” said Bashir Ahmad, flanked by other villagers, who had travelled from Kupwara in connection with demand of people from their area.

An official told daily Kashmir Glory that hundreds of people return disappointed as most of the officers were not present in connection with festival.
