Protest against PDP MLA in Jammu over his militant remarks
In Upper house, Mehbooba obliquely endorses party member
Srinagar, Jan 12 (GNS): Shiv Sena, Bajrangdal and activists of ruling BJP stages protest demonstrations against PDP MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir for his remarks on militants.
In separate protests held in Jammu, the activists raised slogans against Mir for calling militants as brothers and those killed as martyrs. The activists were raising slogans like “Down with PDP, and demanded action against the legislator” from Wachi constituency of Shopian district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti obliquely endorsed Mir’s statement as she stressed on need to end bloodshed in the Kashmir Valley.
In her address to upper house Mehbooba said: “We will get nothing simply out of killing militants. We have killed 200 of them (in 2017). They will recruit 200 fresh”
“How long can we kill militants? This has to stop. Solution lies ultimately in talks. But separatists are not responding positively. We got Daneshwar Sharma appointed as interlocutor for talks. Top national leaders went to their doorsteps during 2016 unrest. We can take a horse to stream but can’t force it to drink water”. (GNS)
