This has been a shock for hundreds of wireless operators of J&K Police (Batch 2010) who were all of a sudden terminated. Given the version of the operators, they have been selected by a “competent” police recruitment board as constable operators in 2009 after going through proper selection process which even consumed three precious years from the time of the publication of the advertisement notice. After that some disqualified candidates sought stay orders to the selection list from the High Court which was later on vacated after a period of 9 months. interestingly, these constables have joined the department in July 2010 followed by a various trainings and have served at different headquarters of the police department including armed battalions, VIPs, VVIPs, election and yatra duties from last seven years. Then a selection list was reframed by the department on the basis of state cadre on 19-01-2017 without any notice and making party in the litigation expelling 231 constable operators thereof. The “reframed” list disqualifies these operators. Point is that the candidates who were eligible from years turned ineligible all at once. This is a sheer injustice as most of them are married and tasked with the responsibilities of our families and children. Besides, they have almost crossed the maximum age limit to apply for any job. Most of them have drawn huge amount of loan from banks even left their studies after joining the department. Their future stands ruined. The government should on humanitarian grounds revoke the termination order.
