Srinagar, October 16: A militant was killed by his own associates during a scuffle that broke after a Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) activist was shot by them at Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said Monday.
SSP Shopian AS Dinkar told news agency GNS over phone that one militant namely Showkat Kumar was shot dead by his own associates at Imam Sahab Shopian after they had an argument over shooting PDP activist namely Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh (50) near his residence at Huomhuna, Imamsahab at around 8:05 pm.
“Showkat wanted the militants to shoot Ramzan in his leg but they refused and this resulted in scuffle. The militants shot dead their associate Showkat Kumar of Trenz and he has died,” the SSP said. DGP Dr SP Vaid said confirmed in a tweet that the militant was killed in scuffle.
Sheikh, a Halqa President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was shifted to nearby Zainpora Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants. (GNS)
