Srinagar, Nov 11:  A man was found dead by his brother as he went to call him after a contingent of police and army knocked at their door during a cordon-and-search-operation in Old Town Baramulla in north Kashmir on Saturday.

A police spokesman told Kashmir Glory that early morning a cordon and search operation was launched in Qazi Hamam Mohalla of old town Baramulla by police and army’s 46RR. After searching some houses, the joint team of police and army knocked at the door of one house and called out the inmates.

“While a house inmate Tariq Ahmad Badru came out, he also went to inform his brother who was sleeping in his bedroom with his family  but found him dead.”

The deceased, Bilal Ahmad Badru son of Ghulam Hassan Badru was shopkeeper by profession.

“Prima facie it appeared to be a case of murder and it has surfaced that he had been strangled to death during sleep,” the spokesman said, adding, “It was due to presence of Police and Army in the area that this case of murder was detected.”

Police has launched the investigation and few people are being questioned about facts and circumstances of the murder, the spokesman said. “Post-mortem of the dead-body was conducted by team of doctors in District Hospital Baramulla,” the spokesman said, adding, “Case FIR No 200  /2017 under sections of 302 RPC stands registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigation into the case is going on.”
