Srinagar, October 13: In second incident of its kind within 24 hours, unidentified gunmen looted another bank in south Kashmir, this time at Shopian district, official sources said. Police have once again blamed militants of Hizbul Mujahideen for the bank heists.
Sources told news agency GNS that three gunmen barged into J&K Bank Ratnipora branch in Shopian district and decamped with around Rs. 2 lakh. The sources said that the gunmen were masked and before making their way to cash counter, they smashed few CCTV cameras but they were still caught on camera.
The gunmen successfully managed to flee from the spot. Soon after receiving information, government forces including army and police rushed to the bank branch and started questioning of witnesses and staff. They also launched searches in Ratnipora area to nab the gunmen.
Yesterday afternoon, the gunmen in similar way looted J&K Bank Marhama Branch in Sangam area of Anantnag district and decamped with more than five lakh rupees. Police have blamed militants for these heists.
Police meanwhile blamed three Hizbul Mujahideen militants namely Zubair, Ishaq and Abbas for the robber at Shopian bank and announced reward if anyone informs police about them.
