Srinagar, July 10: The State government on Monday Constitution of the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) to oversee the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016 at the district level.
“In pursuance of rule-12(4) of Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016 of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, as issued under Notification No. G.S.R 450(E) dated 3′ June, 2015, sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) to oversee the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016 at District Level,” a government order issued to Kashmir Glory said.
To be headed by district magistrate, the members of the committee include Chief medical Officer, divisional/executive engineer PHE, district officer of State Pollution Control Board, reprseenative of municipal body, representative of Indian Medical Association  and operator from common bio-medical waste treatment facility.
The terms of reference of the District Level Committee shall be to monitor the compliance of the provisions of these rules in the health care facilities generating bio-medical waste and in the common biomedical waste treatment and disposal facilities;
The DLMC are to submit its report once in six months to the State Advisory Committee and a copy thereof shall also be forwarded to the State Pollution Control Board for further necessary action.
