‘War is neither an option nor a solution to issues’

Srinagar, July 15: Hurriyat Conference (G) as well as Kashmir High Court Bar Association hailed statement of UN chief, urging parties to sit together and find a lasting solution to Kashmir issue through dialogue.
In a statement, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said that dialogue was the only option for the peaceful resolution of all issues.
Hailing the statement of UN Gen Secretary Antonio Guterres, Geelani said that war was neither an option nor a solution to issues.
“We appeal UN Secretary General to take impressive measures for the resolution of this long pending dispute,” added Geelani.
Kashmir dispute has multiplied human tragedies, Geelani said, adding that it was because of the lingering issue that millions of people are facing immense hardships and a state of uncertainty and instability is looming over whole South Asian region.
“Although both countries are bound to seek peaceful settlement of the issue however neither agreement is being implemented nor any development is being observed on ground for its resolution.”
Hailing Secretary General for his keen interest towards the issue, Geelani said that it was encouraging and from day first he was illustrating his interest towards the issue.
“I on behalf of people of suppressed of Jammu & Kashmir express my gratitude to Antonio Guterres for his moral support to our cause,’ said Geelani and expressed hope that he will play a positive and effective role for its peaceful settlement.
The octogenarian leader while addressing authorities in India and Pakistan, urged them to shun haughty and stubborn attitude and asked them to play a constructive role for peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
“War and inconsistencies is no option instead they cause devastation and destructions,” said Geelani and added that both India and Pakistan are nuclear country and any flare can prove extremely detrimental.
Appealing both countries to demonstrate restraint and wisdom, Geelani asked them to resolve issue as per aspirations, wishes and expectations of people of state.
“Kashmir issue poses threat for world peace and that it is proving a big obstacle in peace, prosperity and development in the region.”
Meanwhile, J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar while appreciating the statement of UN Chief Antonio Gutierrez described the situation in Kashmir very volatile and explosive.
The lawyers’ body impressed upon the UN to take immediate steps to solve the Kashmir problem in accordance with the Security Council Resolutions before any big tragedy may occur in the State which will devastate the sub-continent.
