The Durbar will open tomorrow in State’s winter capital Jammu and the government will function from the province. We have time and again termed the Durbar Move as wastage of time and money and this demand of not shifting the administration has always been snubbed by the government. People have been against this practice since decades as it heavily affects the State exchequer. Only time will tell how long this obsolete tradition will continue. Meanwhile, as usual, a barrage of public complaints in Kashmir province will start increasing manifold; from poor electricity to shortage of essential commodities and other issues will come to fore. The winter in Valley is synonymous with miseries and people generally prepare themselves up for confronting the winter challenges. In this scenario, the administration has to gear up its men and machinery to mitigate to the maximum possible extent the sufferings of general public and ensure smooth redressal of their day to day problems by making adequate availability of administrative officials in Kashmir. The government has to make the best possible efforts to ensure this winter goes hassle free for the people in Valley and intensify endeavours in this regard.
