Srinagar, Oct 29: ‘Chhandil Premier League Season II’ was conducted at Shrae Cricket ground by the Army from 08th October 2017 to 29thOctober 2017.   The Final match between Tumbarhama and Devbugh Tigers was witnessed by a huge crowd, a defence spokesman in a statement issued here said.

Major General AK Singh, Kilo Force Commander according to the spokesman addressed the crowd and encouraged the youth to channelize their energy in the right direction by picking up sports like cricket and other sports activities.

“He congratulated all the teams for taking keen interest and initiative to make this cricket tournament a great success. He also promised the teams and locals to improve the Cricket ground at Shrae further by constructing a Viewer’s Gallery in the next year. This was followed by prize distribution of cash prizes of Rs 25,000/- for the winner and  Rs 15,000/- for runner up and with other special prizes as ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’.  Later a tea and interaction was organised with participants. The tournament was a huge success in order to satisfy the needs of promising and exuberant youths and was attended by thousands over time”.

The league was organised based on the request made by the locals during an earlier cricket tournament organised in the month of May 2017.  The local youth had then requested for levelling the Shrae Cricket ground and for conduct of one more mega Cricket Tournament in the month of October 2017.  Army Camp Chhandil took the initiative forward by levelling the Shrae Cricket ground and organised the ‘Chhandil Premier League Season II’ as per popular demand of the public, the spokesman added.
