Srinagar, Oct 20: Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated all over the world with great fun and zeal, a defence spokesman in a statement issued here said.
Keeping in with the spirit of Diwali and coupled with true essence of Kashmiriyat, the Army celebrated Diwali with the youth and children from the villages of SK Bala, Malpura, Dudhwan and Chewa, he said.
The youth were invited at the Army camp for tea and sweets along with exchange of pleasantries. In the evening, the youngsters were welcomed for an informal interaction explaining the significance of Diwali which was followed by decorating the Camp with lighted candles and bursting crackers together. The children were awestruck by the beauty of flower pot, Roman candles and sparkles, he said.
This was followed by a sumptuous dinner for the children in the dining room where the Army personnel served the meal for the tiny tots. Both the children and the jawans gave a new outlook to the meaning of Diwali the Festival of Lights, he said.
