Srinagar, Oct 12: In wake of the call to call for protest by Joint Resistance Leadership, district administration on Thursday announced to suspend class work in all schools and colleges for second consecutive day on Friday “as a precautionary measure.”
“The class work in schools and colleges across the Kashmir Valley shall remain suspended on Friday,” said an official. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, he added.
Kashmir University said that class shall remain suspended on Friday in the varsity but all exams would be held as per schedule.
“Class-work in Kashmir University shall remain suspended on October 13 (Friday). However all examinations shall be held as per schedule,” a spokesman of the varsity said in a statement issued here.
According to the District Magistrate Srinagar, restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC will remain in force under the jurisdiction of Police Stations Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, M R Gunj, Safakadal and partially in Kralkhud and Maisuma, in district Srinagar on October 13 (Friday) as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.
The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said people will continue to raise their voice against the shameful assault on women and will peacefully protest against it on Friday.
