The public outreach programme started by the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti wherein she convenes public grievances redressal camp holds utmost significance as it is done at a time when people are confronting with challenges that have put the valley into a quagmire of uncertainties. The miseries of people are mounting with each passing day given the conflicting nature of the State where peace is the only dream the inhabitants harbour in their hearts. The outreach programme started by CM in which she meets scores of deputations and hundreds of people who apprise her of their problems is a step towards healing the wounds of people who face daily life problems ranging from supply of drinking water, improvement in power distribution system, tourism development, road constructions, upgradation of health facilities, development of sports facilities and other issues. Grievance redress mechanism is part and parcel of the machinery of any administration and no administration can claim to be accountable, responsive and user-friendly unless it has established an efficient and effective grievance redress mechanism. In fact, the grievance redress mechanism is the gauge to measure the efficiency of government and it effectiveness as it provides important feedback on the working of the administration. Let’s hope the CM continues such massive outreach programmes and these meets benefit people at the large.
