Srinagar, June 15: A youth suffered grievous injuries during clashes between protesters and forces in Rangreth area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday.
A police official said that a group of youth pelted stones on a vehicle of SSB 48 bn at Rangreth area. The forces personnel fired in air to disperse the stone pelting youth.
However, a youth received a bullet and sustained grave injuries ,” he said. The youth has been identified as Naseer Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Bandipora.
He was immediately rushed to JVC hospital Srinagar where he was provided necessary first aid and was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Sources in the SKIMS said that the said youth is critical. He is being operated upon, sources said.
Meanwhile, the locals in Rangreth said that forces ‘target fired’ at Nazir Ahmad when he was standing near a local shop.
Reports said that Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel were withdrawing from the area when they came under stone-pelting.
“They (SSB) resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesters. One youth was injured,” they added.
