Srinagar, Oct 8: With spike in incidents of braid chopping, J&K Police Chief Dr S P Vaid on Sunday said there has been no breakthrough so far into the mysterious incidents which have created fear among people in Kashmir Valley.

“Police don’t have a Jaadu ki chadi (magical stick),” Dr Vaid said while talking to reporters on sidelines of a function.

Meanwhile, five incidents of braid chopping occurred on Sunday in different parts of Kashmir.

In Kulgam, reports said, three consecutive braid chopping incident occurred. At Dardparen Khuri Batpora village the braid of one elderly woman was chopped.

Another braid chopping incident took place at Lassarpora Manzgam in Kulgam, where a braid of young girl was chopped. Another incident took place at Noorabad Kulgam, reports said.

In Srinagar’s Batamaloo area, the braid chopping incident took place around 12 noon. A young girl became the victim of braid chopping.

Later in the afternoon, a girl in Baramulla town became the victim of braid chopping.

Family members of the girl told local news agency that some unknown person were hiding inside her room, and when she entered inside, they sprayed some power which left her unconscious. “Later they chopped her braid and fled,” they said. The girl was shifted to District hospital Baramulla for treatment.
