Doda, July 05: Two persons were killed when a car they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Jathi area of Assar on Doda-Jammu road.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02V-1227 was on its way from Jammu to Gundoh, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve and the vehicle plunged into gorge near Jathi area resulting into on spot death of two persons.
After getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the dead bodies to Community Health Center , Assar . The deceased have been identified as Anayat Hussain S/O Late Gh Nabi Ratter and Mohd Sohail S/O Gh Hussain both residents of Changa Bhalessa and were famous cricket players and social workers of Bhalessa.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to family members after completing medical and legal formalities.
A case in this regard has been registered at Assar police station and further investigation has been started.
From last several decades, a series of road accidents claimed hundreds of innocent lives in Chenab valley and its adjoining areas. The passengers travelling in buses and other commuter services have lost their lives for no fault of theirs as they were just commuting on the roads as per their daily requirements. The spate of accidents in the recent past were also caused by dilapidated road conditions and some of the roads are not traffic worthy.
